We respect the privacy of our clients, agents and associates and the protection of your personal information.  This privacy policy (Privacy Policy) outlines how Community Insights Pty Ltd (CIPL) safeguards the privacy of any personal information that you give to us in person, through the telephone, via the website www.socialimpactassessment.com (Website) or under any other arrangement.

Personal information
Personal information includes any information or opinion, whether true or not, about an individual from which their identity is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained.

Collection of your personal information

CIPL only collects personal information from you, which is necessary for conducting our business, providing our services to you and meeting our legal obligations.  We collect personal information about you only by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.  CIPL takes reasonable steps to ensure that you know why we are collecting your personal information, what we use it for, to whom we disclose it and how you can access it to ensure its accuracy.

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, CIPL collects personal information about you directly from you.  Generally, we may collect personal information about you when you contact us by telephone, facsimile, email, correspond with us by mail or when you request further information about our services through the Website.  Occasionally, if acting on your behalf, CIPL may collect personal information about you from a third party such as organisations with which you may have dealings, an information service provider or from a publicly maintained record.  If this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to inform you of why we are collecting the information, any laws that require the collection, who we usually disclose such information to and any consequences (if any) for you if we do not collect the information.

Our site may use cookies technology and IP address information to obtain non-personal information from on-line visitors, protect the integrity of the information provided and also provide Website users with the best possible personalised on-line experience. Cookies are small text files placed on your hard drive by websites that you visit.  These files identify your computer, record your preferences and other information about your visit so that when you return to the site, it can personalise your preferences.  If you do not wish this to occur, you should choose to refuse the cookies function on your internet browser.

CIPL endeavours to use and disclose personal information about you primarily for the primary purpose for which we have collected it.  The primary purpose of collection may relate, for example, to the provision of our services, advertising your services on the Website or providing you with information such as our newsletter.  Sometimes it may be necessary to use or disclose your personal information for a secondary purpose.  In these circumstances, the information will only be used for purposes which relate to the primary purpose of collection.

CIPL does not disclose or sell your personal information, which it collects and holds, to third parties in order to allow them to directly market their products and services to you.

CIPL may provide you with links to other websites or resources that you have indicated you want to receive.  CIPL has no control over the content, privacy policies or security measures of these other websites or resources.  Any treatment of your personal information will be subject to those other websites or resources own terms and conditions and privacy policies.  You should not assume that these other terms or conditions or privacy policies are the same as ours.

Securing your personal information
CIPL will take reasonable steps to protect the personal information which we hold from misuse and loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

CIPL takes reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information if we no longer need it.  We have in place systems for destroying or de-identifying personal information that is no longer required, such as shredding of paper documents that contain such information.  In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

If you subscribe to the Website, your account information is accessible online only through the use of a username and password.  To protect the confidentiality of personal information, you must keep your username and password confidential and not disclose it to any other person.  Please advise us immediately if you believe your username and password has been misused.

Discussion forum
We offer a discussion forum where users of the Website can post comments or reviews.  Other Website users will be able to see what information (including any personal information you choose to reveal) you post on our discussion forum.  We make no representations and undertake no obligations as to information you voluntarily post but they are all subject to our Terms of Use (Terms) and this Privacy Policy.

We recommend that you exercise caution before disclosing any personal information in these forums.  Where you submit personal information in this way and form you consent to its publication as CIPL deems reasonably appropriate.

You have the option of anonymity when posting on our discussion forum or in submitting your personal information to us generally.  Please be aware that all postings on the discussion forum are subject to administrative review by CIPL and CIPL reserves the right to remove, at its sole discretion, any posting that it deems inappropriate.

If you choose not to submit your personal information to us please note that we may not be able to provide you with some, or all, of the services we offer or that you require and expect of us.  If you submit incorrect or fraudulent information to us, your use of the Website may be terminated in accordance with our Terms.

Accessing your personal information
If you wish to amend or gain access to the personal information that we hold about you, you may contact us.  CIPL will provide you with access to your personal information subject to CIPL exercising its sole discretion, which will not be unreasonably exercised.  If we deny you access to your personal information, we will provide reasons for our decision to do so.  CIPL will deal with your request within a reasonable time.

Amendments to Privacy Policy

CIPL reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy to the extent that it is required to under Australian privacy legislation or any other applicable law and when it becomes legally or commercially necessary.  CIPL will issue notices about any changes to the content of this Privacy Policy by publishing an updated version on the Website.
