The General Recommendation No. 39 (GR 39) on the Rights of Indigenous Women and Girls issued by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) in October 2022, provides important guidance and recommendations for the rights and well-being of indigenous women and girls (IW). This document was developed with the active participation and engagement of indigenous peoples’ organizations including the Indigenous Peoples Rights International-IPRI, the International Network of Indigenous Women-FIMI and other indigenous women’s organizations.
