The Social Connection Program Evaluation Toolkit (SoCPET) is a framework to help measure the program quality and impacts of programs that seek to generate social connection. It is based on the Social Connection Model and the Social Connection Measurement Dimensions. These are explained below and we then proceed to explain the SoCPET in detail. The SoCPET surveys – in full – are provided in an Appendix at the end. This toolkit is designed for practitioners who want a quick, strengths-based, and evidence-based tool that has been designed with the community and practitioners. It contains up to three short surveys that can be slightly adapted to suit the evaluation needs of the program, and that can be applied pre and post, or pre, during, and post-program. The implementation of these surveys will help to capture the overall social connection generated, the success of the program’s processes and the impact of these processes on participants’ social connection. This document provides a guide of what the toolkit is and how to apply the toolkit in a manner suitable for different social connection programs or events. Using this toolkit will help to: Understand program participants’ social connection experiences & gaps before they start the program and to measure their social connection experiences during or after the program; Measure the performance of the program in supporting participants to experience improved social connection; and Demonstrate the outcomes of the program in terms of individuals’ social connection, helping to identify improvements for participants, and, from the perspective of community organisations, to compare programs and inform funders.
